I am used to my depression but I want some company during the day where I feel valued. What can Independence Trust provide?
We offer a safe environment where people can meet and access support, and take part in a variety of activities from arts and crafts, drama, discussion groups, I.T., gardening, community projects and volunteering with the community (not an exhaustive list).
A comment from one of our visitors to the Stroud Wellbeing Centre:
It’s being with people who can identify with how I am feeling, because they are feeling it too or have similar experiences. Somewhere to share and experience different coping strategies. Here I am not the one in four labelled by people who do not understand Mental Health, I feel excepted for who I am, I am given the tools to enable me to focus on mental health and not ill health.
Do I have to do group work if I come to your agency?
No. We do run groups, and there is a lot of group work at our drug and alcohol Day Programme, but the majority of what we do is one to one.
Does your agency provide medical support?
No, but we have close links to medical services, and some medical services need a referral to come from us first anyway; so it’s worth calling us.. If we can’t give you what you need, we can probably refer you to the right place.
What are your opening times?
These can all be found in the Contact Us section of the site (broadly speaking we operate Monday to Friday, 9-5, but there are variances). Alternatively, give us a call.
Who can access my information if I attend your service?
Confidentiality is important to us. We will not speak to anyone about your attendance without your permission. There are some exceptions related to protecting the safety of individuals and the public. You can read about these by clicking this link.
