Volunteer Mentoring
The aim of our volunteer mentor scheme is to recruit and train people who have had some experience of drug and alcohol treatment to act as mentors. They help other service-users to sustain positive changes in their behaviour.
This could involve helping to develop confidence and self esteem by sharing experiences and enthusiasm about overcoming substance misuse issues. It encourages those they support to recognise the benefits of all their efforts and to form positive relationships.
Independence Trust is pleased to announce the next phase of its Volunteer Mentor Project. Applications are invited from people who have had experience of offending, and/or substance misuse, and who are currently in the last phase of their treatment or recently finished. We ask that individuals have lived a ‘stable’ pro social lifestyle for the previous three months before selection.
Our Mentors work across the county providing peer support to clients and offenders who are working towards maintaining positive lifestyle changes. The Mentor Scheme recruits and comprehensively trains those who wish to fulfil this role
